OK, so I am gonna take a break from reviewing and just blah blah blah...

Pete: Hey Cam, it's September 11th, are you gonna take two minutes of silence?
Cam: No?! Why the fuck should I do that?
Pete: Well, a lot of people lost their lives on that day. You should do it out of respect
Cam: What the fuck?? Thousands upon thousands of people lose their lives every week due to terrorists. Why the fuck should I spend two minutes quiet for some just because they were American and the attacks were publicized? If I were to spend two minutes of silence every time a bunch of people got killed, I'd never speak again!

Insensitive or Validated?? You make the call!

Music
Well, I bought a DVD called Playback. It's a collection of some of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers greatest hits. I will say this, it doesn't disappoint. A couple of the videos (Change of Heart, Here Comes My Girl, and Insider) were pretty straight forward concepts of the band playing in a room or a concert, other videos wound a whole story for us to follow (Into The Great Wide Open, and Yer So Bad) and some didn't even make any sense (You Got Lucky and Runnin Down A Dream). But they all had one crucial thing in common, they were Tom Petty, therefore, they rocked. I've been on kind of a Tom Petty break as of late, but thanks to Melissa Ethridge's horrible slow watered-down version of Refugee came to the radio waves, I had to dig out my Heartbreaker CDs and hear the original in all its greatness. I'm snooping around now for his Into The Great Wide Open and I've put it on hold at the library so can see if I like it or not. One thing that Tom Petty's done that I think has appealed to me the most is that he is able to stay consistently good and steady throughout his career. The new and old songs don't differ a heck of a lot in style, and he doesn't try anything weird *cough* Neil Young, trans *cough*.
Movies
Yet again, you'll have to bare with me because I don't get out a lot and haven't seen any new movies in ages. However, I did buy a movie I've been meaning to pick up for awhile now. It's called The Rules Of Attraction. It stars James Vanderbeek, for Dawson's Creek. This is a strange comedy. It ties together the lives of 5 people going to college. This has very good acting, and the plot is interesting. This is not one of those teen movies you see all the time because believe me, I would never waste my time writing about one. It's about your usual college love stories, but a bunch of neat twists. I don't like giving away plots, so I won't say anything. In my opinion, it's a very good movie with surprisingly good acting from unlikely roles.
Books
Well, I finally read the DaVinci's Code. In my opinion, it was a great book, but it didn't vary a lot from Angels and Demons. I could even recognize some of the pot twists as being identical. I don't really see why this novel raised a bunch of hell, but Angels and Demons did not. Anyways, back to the book. It was again, about a topic I could not resist, uncovering the churches dirty little secrets. This time the topic up for debate is the true nature of the holy grail. The know what I mean, you'll just have to read the book. Dan Brown also bring elements from his novel Digital Fortress. There is a lot of code breaking and cryptology. I think Dan Brown must have studied this because it's popped up a lot. He uses his knowledge to make you believe every word that comes out., much in the same way Tom Clancy uses his military know-how to describe various things, but not nearly as boring. Anyways, another great book from a very promising author, just don't expect anything too different from Angels and Demons.

Movies:
I still haven't watched any new movies lately, so I'll just do my usual rave about Garden State. Actor/writer/director Zach Braff is amazing to say the least in this. He plays the lead role accompanied by the ever talented Natalie Portman. What I like so much about this movie is that it's about life. There's no race for survival or anything like that. It could actually happen to anyone. There's enough comedy in it to appease those who are looking for some laughs, but also enough romance to appeal to those who like mushy stuff. This movie is by far the best I've seen in ages with only one exception. Everytime time I watch it I can't help but wishing for something cool like that to happen to me. I not only recommend this movie to those who like comedy, but everyone who enjoys movies period.
Music:
Well, I'll pretty much only been commenting on what I've been listening to on work so this time I'll do Blood Sugar Sex Magic by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This is a really good album. Anyone who has only been listening to their hits are in for a surprise. This is heavily influence by hip-hop and funk. Listening closely to the lyrics you realize just how sexually explicit these guys can be. This is their first album with guitarist John Fruciante and he delivers. Tracks like Under The Bridge and Breaking The Girl showcase his unique style of playing guitar. And as always, Flea proves himself to be the best bass player in modern times. For quite some time now I've had ongoing arguments on whether or not you can consider the Redhots to be 'hip-hop' or not. Well, one listen to Suck My Kiss or Power of Equality should end any argument. These guys have continued to be unique and fresh with every album they put out. I can only hope that the future continues to bring out the best in these four talented musicians.
Books:
I've just finished reading Digital Fortress and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few years, you well know that he is the author of the ever popular and ever controversial DaVinci's Code. I still have yet to read this novel, but if his other efforts are any indication of what lies in this one, I'll be overjoyed. Angels and Demons deals with the struggle between science and religion. This topic in itself is enough to interest me. And Digital Fortress is about a race against time to find a missing ring and cover up a humungeous leak of information. The one thing I enjoy so much about these two novels is that the author takes the side of what isn't necessarily the morale correct side. In Angels and Demons, the antagonists (or bad guys) are the group of people that have been persecuted by the Vatican for years and are now choosing to strike back. And in Digital Fortress the bad guys are the ones who are attempting to stop a group of people from spying on everyone's personal e-mails. It's neat to know that there are always two sides to a story, no matter what the issue is.

Movie:
Well, I haven't actually seen any new movies recently, but I will comment on ones I've watched recently. I wasn't expecting a lot when I sat down to watch The Life Aquatic starring Bill Murray. It's not that I'm not a fan of his, the movie just didn't seem like would like it. Anyways, after watching it, I was less than impressed. I know I said I didn't expect much, but I was hoping for a few laughs. Even with the all star cast, (Owen Wilson, William Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett) there is little laughs. I think they were trying to make it a lot more serious than they should have. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend buying it.
Music:
Well, I decided to bring all the CDs home that I had taken to work. This was not a good plan. My self titled Offspring CD got cracked in half after one co-worker tried to burn it and I'm also missing my Faceless album by Godsmack. Anyways, I've been listening to more Megadeth these days and have decided to comment on my favourite from them called Youthanasia. I never started listening to these guys until a few years ago, and this was the second album I bought from them. This CD is my favourite for a few reasons. The vocals (from Dave Mustaine) are, as always, one of my favourite parts of Megadeth. In this outing, Dave seems more confident in his voice than I've ever heard him. The lyrics also got to me too. Unlike it's predecessor (Countdown To Extinction), Youthanasia does not have too many political songs, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just a good change. And, as always, the guitar work is extraordinary. So anyone who is looking for a more intense, unique twist of Metallica, buy this CD!
Books:
I've just about finished the Myth series buy Robert Asprin. These are short novels about an apprentice and his teacher. They are called Myth books for a reason because there's everything from dragons, to devils, to dimension-hopping in these books. Now just because they are about magic and myth does not make them just a children's book. There are many small adult innuendoes which are highly amusing. However, if you read the first 3 novels, the plot line doesn't really change in the upcoming novels. Pretty much; Skeeve fucks up, Ahaz tries to help and fucks up the fuckup even more, dragon says 'gleep', Skeeve and Ahaz talk their way out of the fuckup-fest. But, they are pretty amusing and I would recommend them for a good light read. This author also did the Phule's series, which I've only read two of, but are pretty good as well.
And finally...
